What to Expect on a Cruise

If you are planning to have a cruise trip, you have to do some homework before stepping your feet up to the cruise. You must know which call of ports you are going to visit and what are the exciting things your may do once you get there. You must also know how many days you are going to spend on the cruise and on each port. Don’t take too many clothes with you. The dressing on the dock is very informal. Do not forget to bring with you your medical kit. Diseases like Norovirus infections and Legionnaires’ disease are very common in voyages. It is common for cruises to showcase their ships as comfortable floating resting places. Well they are floating hotels but not as luxurious as Marriot or Hilton. The rooms are much smaller than you expect. There are bigger rooms as well but most of the people cannot afford them. The size of rooms also depends upon the size of cruise.

There is a misconception that cruising is only for newly wed or nearly dead. In fact cruising is more like a family holiday. All the family members can enjoy many activities together. There might be mini theaters in some cruise ships, some cruise ships also offer bowling, casino gambling, nightclubs, movies, talent shows, live musical shows, comedians, fitness areas for keeping oneself fit, internet facilities, kids play areas and a lot more that will keep you and your family busy. All these entertainment facilities except gambling are very free. In addition, if you like to relax and read your favorite book, you will find quiet and inmate places for reading. There are a lot of daytime activities on the cruise like sunbathing, bridge tournaments, ping pong, swimming pools etc. while you are eating or reading, you don’t have to search for bar servers, they will be roaming around you waiting for your call.

Most surprisingly many cruise ships have shopping areas. They have duty free shops where you can spend your spare time. They also have several dining out options. Light music is played during your dining time, which makes your dining a wonderful experience.

Another very impressive advantage of cruising is that you can meet many people of all interests. There is more chance to socialize in a cruise than in a resort. Everyday at the dining table you have a seat along with the same people, so you have a better chance to know people of your interests. Moreover, if you want to change your seat and meet other people, you can do so by asking your steward.

Overall cruising is so much more than you expect. Everyone who can afford must go for cruising at least once in his lifetime.
